The vertical mill is grinding equipment capable of saving the energy and reducing the consumption. In recent years, the technology of the vertical mill is developed fast, and it is popular in many cement manufacturers, and becomes the main equipment of the grinding system. The maximum load of the vertical mill system is mainly from the main motor and circulating fan of the mill, and the electrical load reaches about 70% of the total power consumption of the vertical mill system, therefore, the key of effectively reducing the power consumption of the system is how to reduce the power consumption of the main motor and circulating fan of the vertical mill system.
 
How to reduce the power consumption of the vertical mill?
 
1. Selection of optimal parameter of energy consumption of vertical mill system
 
The principle of the vertical mill is similar. Since the process condition of the enterprise systems is different, the characteristics of raw materials are different and the operating parameter and mode are different, the operating personnel shall pay attention to observe and analyze the important operating parameter of the system in the daily production, such as change for trend chart of pressure difference, thickness of material layer, grinding pressure, temperature, vibration value, air volume and others; and the operating personnel shall derive the change law in some time period by the change of many continuous points, correctly judge the random fluctuation and abnormal fluctuation, and have the strong prediction ability, only in this way, the abnormal fluctuation can be identified fast when being presented, the countermeasures are taken to solve, it does not adjust when seeing that the trend chart is slightly fluctuated, but completes the stable operation of the system on the basis of summarizing and judging, realizes the high yield and high running rate, completes the high quality and low consumption of the system operation, and gropes the parameter when the unit energy consumption is minimum.
 
When evaluating the operation result, it not only evaluates the output finished specifically and quality, but also sees the level of the energy consumption per unit product, thereby, judging whether the operator has the quality of selecting and controlling the optimal parameter.
 
2. Reasonable use and control of air volume of system
 
The power consumption of the circulating fan accounts for about 35% of the power consumption of the whole system, therefore, the power consumption of the fan can be effectively reduced by reducing the air volume. Due to the unreasonable operation of the mill, the product quality can be controlled only by improving the speed of the power concentrator when the air volume of the system is controlled on the high side; and the mill can be run stably, but the current of the circulating fan and powder concentrator is controlled on the high side, which causes the increase of power consumption.
 
In addition, while the system air leakage, the normal wind pulling of the mill is affected, therefore, the valve of the circulating fan shall be opened widely, thus, causing that the fan load is increased, directly increasing the power consumption of the fan, affecting the output of the mill in severe case, and indirectly the power consumption of the system.
 
Therefore, it shall reasonably control the air volume of the mill and reduce the system air leakage as far as possible during operation.
 
3. Adjustment of retention ring
 
Based on the running state of the mill, it shall regularly inspect the wear situation of the grinding plate and lining plate for grinding roll, and timely adjust the height of the retention ring, so as to avoid causing that the grinding efficiency is reduced, the load of the host is increased, and the current of the main motor of the mill is risen, for the thickness of the material layer is too thick or too thin.
 
Meanwhile, the power consumption of the system is also affected if the scraper plate is worn and the gap with the bottom plate of the mill is provided, therefore, it must attach importance to it.
 
4. Improvement of yield and equipment operation rate
 
The vertical mill has the best performance when the maximum stable yield is provided. To improve the yield does not mean to pursuit the high yield, but to play the equipment performance to the farthest extent in the allowable range of the equipment. Meanwhile, it shall reasonably organize the production, and guarantee the continuous operation of the equipment, so that the system is more stable, the parameter is more reasonable, and the power loss brought by the start-stop and idle running of the system is reduced. Therefore, the power consumption of the vertical mill system can be reduced to some extent by improving the yield and equipment operation rate and avoiding the start-stop of equipment without reason.

Each process and each link in the grinding system process of the vertical mill have the potential to dig, therefore, the attention shall be given to them. By the comprehensive optimization of the whole system, the power consumption for the production of the cement and mineral powder can be obviously reduced, the production cost can be reduced, and the market competition space of the product price can be improved.
 
As the front-line employees operating the vertical mill, they shall not only know the current situation and direction of the technical progress, but also grasp the technical means and management method of energy saving, so as to have the clear direction and correct thinking in the management, and also have effect on the reduction of energy consumption.
